ROSCOE MIDDLE SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT SUPPLIES:
Gray RMS T-Shirt and Green RMS shorts. Name must be on the outside front of both the shirt and the shorts. These are available at American Bell in Roscoe.
Athletic socks are required.
Only the sweatshirt and sweatpants purchased at American Bell and we worn in PE class.
Athletic shoes are required. They must, for safety reasons, be laced and tied securely. Slip-ons and skate shoes are not acceptable.
One box of kleenex.
They may not be cut off. No pajama pants are allowed. Students may not tie their shirts with a rubber band.
Students should bring a container to store jewelry during class. This prevents students from losing they're jewelry from falling between the lockers.
LOCKER ROOM PROCEDURES:
No food or drinks in the locker room, gyms, or fitness room.
No glass containers are permitted in the locker rooms.
Students are only permitted in the locker room when dressing for class and/or returning from class.
Students should act appropriately in the locker room.
All students will dress in the locker room and will only use the lock provided by the school.
Students will store their clothes in their LOCKED locker.
Students should not bring books, book bags, athletic bags, large sums of money, or valuables to class.
A lost or broken lock will result in a $10.00 fee.
REQUIREMENTS:
Physical Education is a state requirement.
Students are graded on daily participation, dressing daily, and performance.
In order for students to participate, they must be dressed in their gym clothes wearing their gym shoes.
Every day a student is not dressed for class, their grade will be lowered.
Students are expected to be in their squad lines 5 minutes after the tardy bell. Students may not touch the PE equipment prior to class or they will lose points.
Students late to class will lose points.
JEWELRY:
Students may wear stud earrings at their own risk. All other types of earring (dangling, etc) will not be allowed in class.
Medical alert jewelry should be worn and needs to be taped to the body, or covered with a sweat band.
GRADING:
If a student has more than four absences, the best grade that they can receive is a B (unless they make up their absences during zero hour 8:40-9:10am). Absences can only be made up in the quarter that they occurred.
If a student is getting a D or an F, they MUST come to zero hour until their grade is brought back up to a C. Failure to show up at the assigned times will result in further disciplinary action.
An absence is: ANY time a student is not in class for 50% of the class period- EXCUSED or UNEXCUSED. (School related athletic events are considered excused absences.)
A student with an extended medical must have a doctor’s supervised medical note. These situations will be handled on an individual basis.
